Your laptop: Think about it, if you have a laptop, you have a portable charging station. This, of course, should only be used in emergencies as you can drain your laptop battery pretty quickly if you have it on to charge your phone. However, if you need a quick recharge to make a call or send an email, you can plug your phone into the USB port of a computer and watch as you get some more juice in the battery.
Transportation: If you are taking a plane or a bus, you can probably recharge your cell phone. At minimum, you can recharge it while in the airport or bus station. If you are flying, you have a good chance at finding an electrical outlet. While this is true, bus service can be spotty, and it’s a good idea not to rely on this. Either way, before you jump on the phone or get on a bus, you should research this and ask questions as many of the nicer bus lines and airplanes will provide a charging station at your seat. If this fails on a plane, as the flight attendant as he or she may be able to find you a spare outlet for your phone.
At the restaurant or bar: If you are going to stop off and eat a snack or have a drink, you should charge your phone. This is also true if you are going to have a dinner or lunch. Think about the average time it takes to eat a meal, especially in a foreign country. Sometimes, it can take an hour or two eat lunch and over two hours to eat dinner. You should ask the waiter or waitress if you can recharge your phone while you are sitting. They should understand as people who travel need to have access to their phones. The same should be said about a bar as most cool bartender will gladly put your phone behind the bar and charge your phone. Remember, if a professional goes out of his or her way to help you charge your phone, you should tip well and thank them for the assistance.
Car: Finally, if you are renting a car at your destination, you should bring your car phone charger. Then, when on the road, you should be able to keep your battery fully charged, which will help tremendously, especially if you use map and GPS pogroms on your trip. Ideally, you should remember to bring your charger for the trip as you will save time and money since it’s not easy to find the exact one meeting your needs. If you have more than one phone, you can probably use two charging station at once in a car as most modern cars provide this to motorists.
With these five tips, you can keep your smartphone charged on your trip. Otherwise, if you don’t take advantage of moments when you can recharge your phone, you will end up with a dead battery at the worst possible time on your vacation.
